Linking Doctor-Patient-Caregiver Ecosystem Seamlessly

Every meaningful innovation begins with a moment that cannot be ignored.

For Medibot®, that moment came in 2021—during the uncertainty, isolation, and fear of the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Poonam Harkut and Dr. Pankaj Harkut, respected surgeons in ophthalmology and cardiology, were witnessing something deeply troubling in their clinical practice. Patients were not failing treatment—treatment was failing them.

One incident left a lasting impact. A patient who had undergone a successful heart valve replacement returned to the hospital within just two weeks, facing serious complications. The surgery had gone well. The prescription was clear. Yet the patient had missed a critical blood-thinner medication over a week. The reason was painfully simple: lockdown restrictions had kept family members away, and there was no one to remind, guide, or assist with daily medicines.

This was not an isolated case. It was a silent, widespread problem—medication non-adherence caused not by lack of intent, but by lack of support.

That moment sparked a question that refused to fade:

What if patients never had to rely solely on memory, availability of caregivers, or physical presence to take their medicines correctly?

From Concern to Commitment

What began as concern soon turned into commitment.

Alongside their medical practice, Dr. Poonam and Dr. Pankaj immersed themselves in clinical research and medical device development, determined to find a solution that truly understood patients’ daily realities. They studied the market—pill boxes, reminder alarms, and existing tools—and discovered a common gap. Most solutions were solving only a part of the overall problem – either storage, or reminder, or mobile alerts.

Learning from these shortcomings, Medibot® was built, tested, rethought, and rebuilt—over five iterations—each shaped by real patient behaviour, clinical insight, and lived experience. With every version, the purpose became clearer: this was not just about reminders, but about restoring confidence, independence, and peace of mind.

In 2025, in a technical partnership with IF Medtech Private Limited, Medibot® evolved into a more refined, intelligent, and scalable solution—one that continues to grow with every lesson learned from patients and caregivers.

To further solidify our belief, in October 2025, Medibot® was incubated at InFED, IIM Nagpur.

Our Mission

To make medication adherence effortless, reliable, and human—using technology that supports patients, reduces caregiver burden, and prevents avoidable health complications. Our goal is to bring about a behavioural change in the mindset and habits of patients when it comes to medication compliance through technology. This will eventually lead to enhancement of the quality of life for our fellow human beings.

While our journey thus far has been marked by significant milestones, we recognize that it merely signifies the inception of a much larger mission.
